Mrs. Parks School Counselor's Corner
Welcome to our counselor's corner! I am so excited to be the school counselor at Key Elementary and be a part of this wonderful community. The Comprehensive School Counseling Program at J.B Key is designed to promote students’ personal, social, and academic success by offering services that enhance the development of a positive self-image, social, and communication skills, and decision-making abilities. There is an emphasis on creating and maintaining a positive school climate across all grade levels by promoting awareness, respect, and responsibility. By providing education, prevention, early identification, and intervention, school counselors can help all children achieve academic success (ASCA). School counselors:

-
Work with potential crisis situations
-
Talk to students on an individual basis, in groups, or in classes
-

-
Assist students, teachers, and parents
-
Help promote a positive school climate
Counseling services available to all students at J.B Key include: developmental guidance lessons, small group counseling, and brief individual counseling.
I am available to meet with individual students as needed. Students, parent, and/or teachers may initiate referrals. Individual counseling may offer students support with:

This will be my second year as a school counselor, and I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to support our students' growth and well-being. Every day, I am inspired by their resilience and enthusiasm. I have so many hopes for this upcoming school year and look forward to creating a safe and nurturing space for each student here as well as creating fun and engaging lessons and experiences. Please feel free to reach out to me with any further questions.
Family Resources
As the year goes on, I want to be responsive to the needs of our students and families. I recognize that sometimes families need support beyond the classroom. Please email the school counselor (Parks.Jeanie.J@muscogee.k12.ga.us) if your family would like to be included in emails about community supports throughout the year (including financial/basic needs, major family changes, social-emotional/mental health, etc.).
